Cleaner, Greener East London

It’s been great to be the climate educator for Cleaner, Greener East London, a project led by @paintthechangeglobal.

The project is working with communities across East and South East London to build climate literacy and turn ideas into practical local action – from improving green spaces and biodiversity to reducing waste, developing green skills and using public art to explore environmental issues.

I’ve been supporting the project by designing and delivering accessible, hands-on workshops with community groups, helping participants explore climate change, biodiversity and sustainability and, importantly, think about what these issues mean for their own neighbourhoods.

And the workshops are just the starting point! 🎨 Following each workshop, community groups work with an artist to develop their ideas into a vision for a large-scale public mural. Across the project, six murals will be created, turning communities’ ideas for a better environment into public artworks across East London.

We’re excited to see the murals taking shape and being installed over the next few months – and to see the ideas explored in our workshops transformed into something that can be shared with the wider community.

This project is a lovely example of bringing together science, creativity and community participation to help people explore and shape the places they care about. 🌿
